If you have searched Claude versus ChatGPT, you found ten posts that read like one of them paid for the placement. This is not that. I use both every day, so here is the honest version.
Claude is better at writing, analysis, and following careful instructions. Tell it not to use a certain word and it will not. Hand it a long document and it pulls out the right details without losing the middle. If your work is drafting, reasoning, or coding, Claude saves you the cleanup time.
ChatGPT is better at images, voice, and being an everyday all rounder. It makes pictures, its voice mode is genuinely useful when your hands are busy, and it plugs into more tools out of the box. If you need visuals or hands free use, ChatGPT is the pick.
Both cost about the same for the paid plan, and the usage based pricing comes out close to even. Many heavy users just pay for both and use each for what it is good at.
If you have to choose one and you do serious business work, start with Claude. The output quality saves you time, and you can make it steadily more tuned to your business with skill files.
One warning. The biggest mistake I see owners make is paying for four AI tools and mastering none of them. Pick one, build a couple of skills around it, and only add more when you have truly outgrown it.
